Google Gives Blogger A Nice Makeover

The new makeover Google has given to Blogger is great from what I've been able to see so far. I give Google big props for how much the Blogger platform has improved since I started my journey into the Blogosphere a couple of years ago.

When I first started you had very limited choices for your template and there wasn't any stats available for you unless you knew how to add Google Anaylytics manually. That was way beyond my capabilities when I first started using the blogger platform.

I've always been a big fan of Google because they're always looking to improve on their products and 90 percent of them are free to use!

New Bloggers Need To Be Active In The Blogosphere

SponsoredTweets referral badge You need to work really hard in the beginning as a new blogger if you want to build a successful blog. I'm talking about more than just getting your site up and posting some articles because that happens everyday with new blogs popping up like a bag of Jiffy Pop Popcorn. You need to get out into the blogosphere and start interacting with other bloggers by leaving comments on posts. Don't just leave the standard "good post" comment because that doesn't really help you in any way. You need to leave good comments that can add value to the post you have just read and it's ok to disagree with someone as long as it's done in a professional tone.

I have learned that commenting can help you to build your credibility online and also generate new traffic to your site. Plus it can help add to your PageRank in the search engines which is what everyone likes. I really didn't buy into the commenting theory when I first started blogging because I was thinking that it would be time better spent working on my site and improving my online skills, but that is warped thinking now that I look back on it. I'm not telling you that you need to  leave a novel sized comment on every post that you read on another site, but you want to start getting your name and blog out there for people to start seeing it.

Commenting is just another tool for you to use in building your blog and it really does have value for you. I don't ever leave a comment or link to someones post or their blog and expect anything from them in return. I do it because it is of value to my site readers and it would be nice if I get links and comments in return, but I don't sweat it because thats not my style.

The Blogosphere Has It's Own Language

If you are new to blogging or even thinking of becoming a blogger you need to learn the language of the Blogosphere. It's not to difficult to learn, but if you want to be a successful blogger then it's best to learn. I remember when I started looking and researching how to start my own sports blog and all these words like ping, rss, feed, plugin and feedburner looked very intimidating to me. Those are just a few of the words to learn, but it's not that hard to learn them, trust me! One of my favorite Blogosphere words is, "viral"! It just sounds kinda cool to me, but what does it mean? It's when something online spreads quickly from person to person on the internet like a funny video or joke or even a major world event that people share with each other online. So don't be intimidated or nervous about joining the Blogosphere come on in!

Some Thoughts On A Blogging Alliance

I've been thinking about blogging alliances ever since I read Darren Rowse's great article on Problogger.net  If you have not read it then you should. I think the way the group Darren wrote about is going about it the right way. I would like to be in one if it could be done in a similar fashion because it will be a benefit to all involved if done correctly. I'm still new to all of this and trying to learn as much as I can and I'm not alone out here because I see posts all over the blogosphere from new bloggers asking similar questions. We are all out here trying to fly solo and there is no problem with that if you are a seasoned pro, which I'm not! My idea would be to join up with other new bloggers and help each other out with advice and ideas. If any of those veteran bloggers want to join as sort of a mentor, that would be great as well! One thing I want to make clear is that everything will be for free and there would be no fee, or anything people have to buy in order to join up. Those are some of my thoughts, I would love to hear what you are thinking. Let me know if you have any ideas of your own, I look forward to hearing from you! My email is Beltwayboy7@gmail.com
